Belgium, early 1980s. Jan Laureys wants to see the world and enjoy life, but reluctantly becomes a national police officer. His father, himself an officer in the gendarmerie, wants it that way. When Jan hears about the CDI, a new unit that will tackle drug criminals using American methods, he immediately puts himself forward as a candidate. They don't wear uniforms at the CDI, so he can continue to parade around the courtyard of the barracks in his fashionable outfits.

Set against the backdrop of Belgium's most notorious unsolved crime spree, 1985 begins as three friends - Vicky, her brother Franky, and his best friend Marc - begin a new chapter of their lives, when they set off from their hometown to Brussels. But as their adulthood and careers in the big city commence, the trio risks losing their innocence and noble illusions, as they find themselves caught in the middle of the horrifying events that shocked a generation and will come to leave a scar on the entire country.

Twelve ordinary people are called for jury duty for a murder case as traumatizing as it is controversial: the respected headmistress Fri Palmers stands accused of two murders, one of whom is her own child. Gradually, as the trial gains momentum, it is not only Fri's fate that hangs in the balance, but also the lives of the jury members that are shaken to the core.

Hotel Beau Séjour. Kato, covered in blood, wakes up without any recollection of what happened the night before. Moreover, nobody seems to see or hear her. Slowly it sinks in: she's dead. Who did this to her? And how come a handful of people can still see her, as if she's among the living? Why them specifically?
