The series explores how and why they were built, consider the financial and social costs of their failure and examine the environmental and ecological impacts. The series also explores how experts came up with plans to make something beautiful or useful from the ruins.
This is a re-imagining of the Frankenstein myth incorporating elements from the investigative and horror genre. The show is set in Regency London in 1827, and follows the investigations by Inspector John Marlott.
Silent Witness follows the work of forensic pathologist Dr. Sam Ryan, played by Amanda Burton. The series was created by an ex-police officer, Nigel McCrery - who has also published five Silent Witness novels based on the series, entitled: Silent Witness (1996).
