Paula is a scientist aboard the International Space Station. She disappears without a trace on her flight home to her family, leaving her husband, Sven, and their daughter, Charlie, with a riddle which could shake the entire earth. Up there, in the depths of space, Paula made an unbelievable discovery.

The series is set in Frankfurt, in 1963 and tells the story of a young Eva Bruhns, an interpreter of the Polish language, who lives with her parents, who run the "Deutsches Haus" restaurant. Everyone expects Eva's impending engagement to the wealthy mail-order heir Jürgen Schoormann. Eva is asked to translate at short notice in court, which is the first criminal trial in which former SS officers are charged for their crimes in the Auschwitz concentration camp. Eva, who has never heard of this place, feels an inner obligation and accepts the task against all resistance. It is only during her translation work that Eva understands the full extent of the Nazis' extermination machinery - and thus recognizes the false cosiness that surrounds her: the crimes, suffering and guilt of an entire generation are kept quiet and repressed. Relentlessly and mercilessly, she confronts her own past and the secrets of her own family, which are inextricably linked to the cruel truth.

A mysterious murder of a girl brings Maik Briegand (Mišel Matičević), who, like his father and brother, became a police officer in GDR times, back to the place of his childhood: Lauchhammer. Together with the LKA investigator Annalena Gottknecht (Odine Johne), Briegand begins to remove the secrets of the past, layer by layer, which confront him with the trauma of his youth.

The occasion is sad, as Wolff-Dieter Meurer recently died. He was popular in the town of Lassahn in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, in complete contrast to his wife Gaby Krolmann-Meurer. Now his four children have come to the funeral. While Sabine Stenz-Meurer, Thorsten, Mario and Kevin and other guests at the funeral talk about their father's memory, old stories soon surface that show the past in a new light. When inheritance disputes begin to boil over, devotion is over.

Jan is in his mid-thirties who develops burgers from algae with his Berlin start-up. At the moment, however, he has to look after his father in his old hometown of Simmering, who is evidently developing dementia and can no longer live alone. The only job he can find quickly and even with the help of an old school friend is as a security employee at the Simmering provincial airport.

Dogs of Berlin tells the story of two contrasting Berlin police detectives who become a team against their will - and are forced into a territorial battle with the Berlin underworld that confronts them with their own human weaknesses and criminal activities - and into a final decision on which side of the law they're actually on.

This is a gripping coming-of-age story set against the real culture wars and political events of Germany in the 1980s., starring Jonas Nay.
