Moscow, 1977. Two 'PONIES' ('persons of no interest' in intelligence speak) work anonymously as secretaries in the American Embassy. That is until their husbands are killed under mysterious circumstances in the USSR, and the pair become CIA operatives. Bea is an over-educated, Russian-speaking child of Soviet immigrants. Her cohort, Twila, is a small-town girl who is as abrasive as she is fearless. Together, they work to uncover a vast Cold War conspiracy and solve the mystery that made them widows in the first place.
Sorry, no info about the next episode of Ponies is available yet.
The TV show is either in vacation or waiting to start their new season. When information about future episodes becomes available, it will be posted here.
It is not trying to be a super serious spy drama but also not a comedy like The Spy Who Dumped Me...so what exactly is it trying to be?...don't know.
It is certainly not a well balanced mix of both like Slow Horses.
Gonna give it one more episode, but so far not looking too good.

Instead of dismissing a show because YOU do not know that the USSR had many black people that left America and went to USSR. Sadly, not taught in most history books in America. Sure, teach me about the backwards country in which I was born, lol. And it not only was the case back then, it's the case till THIS VERY DAY :D Might as well walk around with MAGA hat, that's the level of blending in you will have.
And 90% of Americans assumptions about USSR/RU are simply laughable, especially romanticized ones.
But if we talk about spies realism, no American can speak a proper Russian, you can hear that accent from 2 km, regardless of skin color, so the only realistic spies handlers are compromised Russians. But one like in the trailer would have KGB nannies 24/7. There was a massive surveillance network even for ordinary people, forget about about roaming around unnoticed if you cannot blend in flawlessly. And not just KGB would be a problem, every other grandma would report you.
Tho the story as such is quite realistic, there were actual successful party girls spies.

Will give this a try, but already now I'm skeptical. Also already the trailer is funny, Moscow is not Detroit, if you are "diverse", you automatically won't be a pony there - so casting choices backfired even before the show started :D That guy tho is a great actor, just not for USSR spy series, since spies usually strive to blend in.
Trailer looks good, but doesn't fully resonate with me... I'll keep an eye on the thread and on the IMDb rating, maybe I'll still watch it.
Since I don't know if you informed santah about the trailer already I'll let him know. :)

Trailer makes it look like a decent version of - let's hope for the best. Plus it also has Emilia Clarke in it, which I still think is a bonus :)
