I discovered to my surprise that the actor who played officer Dwayne is also the actor that plays Cat in Red Dwarf! I never guessed!
.
I suspect that the creators of DIP have quite a sense of humour, I think that Dwayne being called Dwayne in DIP is far more than coincidental.
In one episode of RD the crew wake up as their real selves from playing a total immersion video game called Red Dwarf (Back to Reality - an excellent episode), to his horror, the Cat turns out to be dorky Duane Dibbley (pronounced Dwayne) with buck teeth, thermos flask and trainspotter's anorak - the antithesis of the Cat.
Ben Miller (DI Richard Poole in DIP) had previously played James Lester in Primeval, where he kept coming face to face with CGI reptiles of varying sizes. His first encounter with Harry The Lizard in DIP had us laughing.

Just yesterday I was looking up information about the show Death in Paradise trying to figure out whether DS Florence (character) was going to die in the program and also seeking information as to why the actor who had played officer Dwayne from 2011-2018 was not present this season, when I discovered to my surprise that the actor who played officer Dwayne is also the actor that plays Cat in Red Dwarf! I never guessed!
I have enjoyed both programs though the latest 2 part episodes of Death in Paradise have an unusual dark tone to them.

I am mixed at the moment with it. I hold season 5 as having the best episodes in it. This episode felt a bit rushed with everything. But still had funny moments and it's red dwarf. I am looking forward to the next episode.
I was a massive fan of the show when it first aired, but when it finished it had run its course and was looking tired. 1999 was the right time to finish. Series 9 (Back to Earth) & 10 were both well below standard.
Saw the 1st episode of the new series (series 11) and it left me cold. Old jokes, badly told, by characters in situations we have seen before. All in all, totally clichéd. Disappointing.
I cant fault you. Only to say that i think season 7 was when it went down. the fact that you know now that its only 30 minutes is a bad sign. i used to watch it and not even realise it was so short, because so much was happening. I feel the same with ash vs evil dead, i told my friend the episodes were 45 minutes and then saw they were 30 at most. thats real writing. But i do hope they pick it up as it goes. Even as an old series, I'll give it a good few episode chance before laying full on judgement

Cant find the show anywhere and it is supposed to air on September 22? Where did you watch it?

This seems to me to be much more like the old stuff than any of the other recent ones.
Loving it, hope they manage to keep it up.
