Rick and Morty: The Anime is a "10-episode adventure" that will be separate from the flagship series, but will adapt themes and events from the original title. The upcoming anime will mark yet another Rick and Morty venture for Sano, who previously directed two anime shorts, "Rick and Morty vs. Genocider" and "Summer Meets God (Rick Meets Evil)".
Well, gave it a shot - Episode 2 proved to me that the concept they were going for doesn't work.
I guess Rick & Morty is best consumed in 30min story-lines.
Here, it's not worth suffering through 10 episodes for a story I honestly was too bored to pay attention to.

I've only recently started watching the original show Rick & Morty and am currently on Season 4.
Although I don't think that matters too much with a cartoon like Rick & Morty but my opinion should still be taken with a grain of salt.
Unless the original changed that much in the next three seasons, the anime has quite the different feeling to it.
The characters feel more serious and the flow of the episodes is completely different. Since this will be a story that covers an entire season that is not surprising.
This is a good thing because there has to be a reason this is not the next season for the original show.
The most disappointing part is the animation. The original show has good animation for an american cartoon. But this anime is way way below the average of japanese anime. Especially the characters look horrible.
Overall it's an interesting take and I will give it a couple more episodes.
The game Morty was in...I get what they were going for with this but still, it felt way too confusing and non-sequential.
I assume they wanted for Morty to feel the heavy burden of lived through many lives inside the game and has to deal with the emotional consequences.
This could've been felt a lot better if they showed one genuine timeline of him inside the game with all the emotions that come with falling in love, creating a family and suffering on the death bed...something like that. He could've been pulled out right at the moment Elle died.
