An hourlong reimagining of the 1999 series, Roswell reflects the realities of its location in a state bordering Mexico. After reluctantly returning to her tourist-trap hometown of Roswell, NM, the daughter of undocumented immigrants discovers a shocking truth about her teenage crush who is now a police officer: he's an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life. She protects his secret as the two reconnect and begin to investigate his origins, but when a violent attack and long-standing government cover-up point to a greater alien presence on Earth, the politics of fear and hatred threaten to expose him and destroy their deepening romance.
I loved reading the books by Melinda Metz. I loved Roswell first tv series sadden it ended to soon. I was hesitant at first thinking Roswell New Mexico was a reboot, I was pleasantly surprised they were portraying from the characters from the books and I was on board first episode. It is well written, directed, produced and acted with plenty of chemistry, good storylines, drama and action. I am deeply sadden that another show has been canceled just as they series was finding it feet and character depth.
After reluctantly returning to her tourist-trap hometown of Roswell, Liz Ortecho, a biomedical researcher discovers her teenage crush, Max Evans, is an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life.
She promise to protects his secret and those of his triad as the two reconnect... But when violent attacks and long-standing government cover-ups point to a greater alien presence on Earth, fear and hatred threaten to destroy their deepening connection.
Meanwhile... fellow aliens Michael & Isobel struggle with both their powers and their pasts as the trio of orphans try to retrace their journey as refuges to relative sanctuary they found upon these cool green hills of Earth.
I haven't read the books nor was I a fan of the first adaptation... but dangit this series has been some great fun, classic Young Adult SF energy with CW flavor! It's a shame this is the last season but it seems they had an idea it would be so hopefully it will wrap up in a more satisfying way then other series #HBOGoTNEVERFORGET/NEVERFORGIVE
