Sandokan is a Malaysian pirate who, along with his friend Yanez and their crew, attacks the British forces from his island of Mompracem. During his adventures, he falls in love with Lady Marianna Guillonk, an English-Italian aristocrat.

I want to like it, but it's kinda meh. It fills the Black Sails void a bit so it has that going for it. There's some seriously hokey acting from Sandokan imo, a little Bollywood tbh. Marianna is, uh, holding my interest though lol.

Nice! Dismissed this since I just saw “Italian” and didn't think I'd get a decent English dubbed version. But after this thread looked at the trailer and looks quite good… will give it a chance…

Watched the first Episode, looks pretty good. Especially the production quality seems very high.
But where do you guys get the Black Sails vibes?
Apart from the show being about a pirate crew I don't see any resemblance with Black Sails.
The tone, setting and grittiness are completely different. The story as well.

Wow a remake of one of my favourite show from the 1970s -- thanks, I will check this out. The original was from about 1976 and was an Italian show I think, a TV mini series dubbed into English. The theme tune is great!
