Sheriff Country focuses on straight-shooting sheriff Mickey Fox, the stepsister of Cal Fire's division chief Sharon Leone, who investigates criminal activity as she patrols the streets of small-town Edgewater while contending with her ex-con father and a mysterious incident involving her wayward daughter.
It was a two part episode, first episode on Sheriff Country and the second episode on its sister show Fire Country.
It wasn't (to me) very well communicated. I just happened to notice the episode names and noticed one had a (1) and the other had (2) in the name. Other than that I wouldn't have known either.

That's the typical way these shows indicate that. You see the same thing with the 'One Chicago' universe, Law & Order shows and even NCIS franchise.
I will say Chicago did something for the first time that I hadn't seen anywhere else: They put up bumper cards on each of the subsequent episodes telling people where the earlier parts where.

Last weeks episode ended in a cliffhanger, and todays episode was just a brand new story?
@SgtSaint your theory posted above seems plausible, because something is definitely off with this show

I've had fun enough with this show so far. Its not meant to be a masterpiece of high art or anything. Its a light fun cop show so I take it as such. Its cotton candy, not a $100 baked Alaska from a master chef so you set your expectations accordingly.
That said... episode 10 was the return from hiatus and something is really off about it compared to pre-break. Like they got redirected... lost a writer or show runner or something.
Or maybe they just need to stick with light and not try to do "big siege" plots. But there were way more, and way bigger issues with the plot and basic human behavior in this than usual. Plus: They do this thing where Mickey Fox breaks down emotionally and just locks up mentally and has to be talked down by deputy Boone. Basically they jump right back to episode one showing she really isn't fit for the job as sheriff and Boone should have had the job all alone. Totally undermines the character.
I'm hoping its a one-off anomaly from doing a different kind of episode, and not a sign of some new normal for the show.

i tried this show and quickly found no one in it was particularly interesting.
as a spin off to a show i have never seen i came to this with open eyes.
they missed a lot of good opportunities to go fresh new places and
opted for the cookie cutter junk that has been on tv for the last 30 years.
no amount of good acting ( which this show does not have any more then any other)
can replace chemistry and good original writing.
even some honest writing would have been fresh to see in this show.
i have given up after 8 episodes. nothing to see and zero reason to re-watch any of it

I gave it three episodes.
I'd give it a 5/10 - it is definitely not "incredibly good".
I for one will stop watching it at this point.
