Very good finale for a season that wasn't exactly on par all the time with the previous ones but still a nice bang for a story we knew the outcome anyway.
And like many, I didn't like Liam as Spartacus at first but he grew with the job and by the finale, was Spartacus. Still a nice touch for Andy in the end.

As series finales go, I thought it was excellent. The earlier seasons were more exciting because the show runners were presenting a lot of new stuff (plotwise and technically). By the last season it had become difficult to amaze, but I though the finale did so.

Spoilers below.
So done watching... if one has read history about Spartacus they could have opted for other routes to take.
Spartacus passing just wasn't very well done so he could have survived (history say that his body was never found) or somehow leave a greater legacy (yeah -- know he did, but we didn't see any sort of reflection on this other then the bad guys hating/respecting him, quite shallow imo).
Just don't feel that the ending was all that grand and that it was a bit too shallow. In Season 1 + Season 1.5 we had intrigues and plenty of typhical roman drama. War of the Damned as a season was shallow in comparison to season 1 and 1.5.

Gods of the Arena is amazingly fantastic and sadly it goes downhill since then.

I'm watching this show for the first time ever and I must say I'm surprised it's A LOT more than boobs, violence & blood. :) But still, it's worth watching it in HD quality. :D
My ranking of the seasons:
1) Season 1.5 "Gods of the Arena"
2) Season 1 "Blood and Sand"
3) Season 2 "Vengeance"
4) Season 3 "War of the Damned" ? Not sure yet

and you want blood and nudeness..
actually i want action that was in the book. i really do not care much about the nudeness. i can get it from porn.
that's why spartacus was good. lots of action. people were not crying around from one scene to another like in almost every show.

sheesh people. what the fuck you want? Emmy worth television? then please watch emmy series.
for christs sake this is Spartacus. this has to have crude acting, blood, nudeness, and pointless/non-existing dialog.
now seriously. this is the main reason i do not watch drama shows.
if you want a emmy performance from every show i have no idea how can you watch so many shows then?
i think that's why you don't like the last season of Game of Thrones. they try to put more effort in drama, and you want blood and nudeness. for me, i think that why i haven't got around to watching spartacus: gods of arena, because in the first episode, there were a lot of sex scenes and it wasn't enought to keep me interested.
