It's not Disney Dumb Down as you put it. The first few episodes deal with addiction, sex, drinking, and tagging. Grant all of which are done on a 'family' type level, but it's at least covered and not everything is all better at the end of each episode. I know very little if anything about the deaf community, but to me they seem to handle it pretty well on the show. The scenes with only deaf characters is different and done pretty well. The best praise I can give the show is that all the characters interactions with each other seem believable, which on too many shows isn't the case.

I know it's not going to be 'bang bang' and as I've mentioned I like heartwarming shows like Everwood or GG. My only concern was that it wouldn't be 'Disney dumbed down'. ;) But it seems that it's ok, so it's already on my list of shows to watch in the near future. :)

Well, it is a family show so no bang bang, no Michael Weston and no canned laughter.

But they are doing a great job with the deaf actors, the signed language and although it might be considered a bit of a spoiler I just saw a scene where one of the deaf character is listening to music and removes his headset and I noticed a humming in the sound being turned off. Had to go back a bit to be sure.

It's like they make you hear what the guy can hear (so to speak). A nice touch of detail to make you reach that character.

Yea... it might be family but it's not too dumbed down. :)

Sounds interesting. I have to find time to watch it, but I admit that the ABC Family scares me (even though I liked Everwood and Gilmore Girls).

Gotta say, it's a nice show. Not too far from the Everwood level. There's always the moronic clichés and behaviors but even the characters having them are growing up.

I'm only at half of it at the moment but as I was bored out of my skull and it was in my watchlist to check it out for quite some time now, I finally did and glad I did.

Kind of makes me wonder how writers can easily write 22 decent episodes of a family show like this on a subject wich could get very boring fast and yet doesn't but they can't pull a decent 10 episodes run on a heavy surviving a zombie apocalypse.

Anyway, good show so far, gonna finish that first season really soon at this pace.

Seems odd that the new episodes in a few weeks isn't season 2 since 22 episodes have already aired. The first season is 32 episodes that air over a 17month period.

I might watch Jerico one of these days. While I'm behind on like 30shows none of them at the moment have my interest

As do I. Like, I love watching Royal Pains and Neccesary Roughness on Thursdays, but before I'm like, "I've got better things to do."

That's what I love about this place. So many people get me. :D
