Before the events of "Chinese Paladin 3", it follows the story of Yun Tian He, a young man who lives isolated on a mountain. During a hunt, he encounters Ling Sha, a woman from a family of tomb raiders, destroying her parents' tomb. Together, they go on a journey to discover Tian He's parents' past. On the way, they meet Meng Li, the adopted daughter of the Shouyang magistrate, with ties to Tian He's father, and Murong Zi Ying, a skilled sword master.
