Low rating came from it being an offbeat show that was hard to categorize and publicize. Definitely not one of your usual genre type shows that dominate programming these days.

I also found the Middleman engrossing. Never could understand why it did not get a second season.

I agree, as i remember it was a good show. Not that i remember much of it, other than that i watched it all and also that the girl who had the leading role later was in another show i watched. :)

One of the best shows I have ever seen. I cannot fathom why it was cancelled after one season.
Every single character is likable in their own ways.
The platonic relationship between the two main characters is perfectly developed.
The writing is imho top notch. Every conversation has so much wit to it.
