Considered an immigrant, common and plain, Catherine de Medici is married into the 16th century French court as an orphaned teenager expected to bring a fortune in dowry and produce many heirs, only to discover that her husband is in love with an older woman, her dowry is unpaid and she’s unable to concieve. Yet, only with her intelligence and determination, she manages to keep her marriage alive and masters the bloodsport that is the monarchy better than anyone else, ruling France for 50 years.
Great season 2 eps 8 finale. we had been lulled into a false sense of security that she was losing her touch

This show must be unique in that the stars of the show are not the stars of the show? ie it is the ancilliary characters ( ie not the queen ) that make it tick. The serpent queen is more a commentator-voice over.

The show I really disliked that did that was She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Just an irritation
I think in general everyone disliked She-Hulk. Awful.

so season 2 is here. At first I didnt like the series with all the ad hominem Frankie Howard type repartee ( google him) But I have since warmed to the series as it has some nice funny characters
I have absolutely no idea how you can compare anyone in this series to Frankie Howerd, but I really like The Serpent Queen too. It was one of those shows I put off to watch when I had very few shows left, but I regret that and wished I'd have watched it sooner.
I enjoy it alot more than I did Catherine The Great, I know that.
The feature of talking to the viewer? though of course not the nudge nudge wink wink
Ah, "breaking the fourth wall". Not sure who was the first person to do that, but I think it was in a play long before anybody even uttered "titter ye not". :)

Just started with ep1, its gonna be a long time till the apex since its kind of told by the protagonist.
Also common, plain and orphan is so wrong, the name actually made history :p
To be in those circumstances in that time was almost unique
