This show is set in our world, thousands of years after the destruction of our civilization. The story is centered on the Shannara millargoughfamily, whose descendants are empowered with ancient magic and whose adventures continuously reshape the future of the world.
But I do hope they just make another book into the next season - they could make the third book work if they work out an ending for Wil and Eretria in the first couple episodes.
I loved Wish Song, so I hope they go with that. Tying up loose ends with Wil & Eritrea would be a good way to start.

The horse scene with the dinky "run boy run" song should have been reconsidered. Just sayin'.
Yea, definitely. Plain wrong, horrible...
Somehow the beginning was pretty enjoyable, but in the end I couldn't handle the dialogues anymore. Everything was too shallow, empty, rather hollow. It's as every character turned into its own caricature.
Are the books any good?

I can't imagine how they would make that work, since the first book centered on Wil's father (which Allanon alluded to a couple of times in this series so they can't really change that) and the third book is about his children. Also, the two plots are completely different so you can't really mesh them together. I'd probably stop watching if they tried something that silly. But I do hope they just make another book into the next season - they could make the third book work if they work out an ending for Wil and Eretria in the first couple episodes.

No, I forgot Amberle turned into the tree.
As for the next season, I read that the plan was to rework the first and third books into the story for it, I'm assuming they need to change up the characters to fit into it. I'll keep an open mind and see how the first few episodes go.

I cannot agree with that more. Throughout the series I had appreciated how the music worked with the atmosphere they'd created, but that destroyed it.
I'm not sure if I want a second season of this. As the season neared its end I was really hoping they would go on to the next book (I've read them all) because they did a good job of this one and I'd enjoyed it, but then I saw how they left the season finale and I was highly disappointed. Leaving it as a cliffhanger as they did indicates they would continue on with that storyline were a second season to take place, but they have used all the material from that book already... so that would mean a plot that they just make up, which I very much do not want to see (and probably most Terry Brooks fans would agree), because the other books in the series do not follow those characters. I really would love to see the other books done, but I don't think I would continue watching it otherwise.

Oh damn! I forgot thats how it ended! So it seems the setup is to continue with Wil in the next series but I don't think he was actually in any other books was he
That wasn't how the book ended at all, if that's what you meant.
In the book, Eretria was never left behind. She returned with them to Arborlon, and after everything was resolved she went with Wil as he left to go further his studies as a healer. The next book in the series, The Wishsong of Shannara, focusses on their children.

I just wish for more rugged, dirty and believable characters in the coming. Enough of the MTV OHH so beautiful ppl with perfect teeth, six-pack, makeup, perfect tits, hair and oh-so-nice and freshly pressed and cleaned clothes
Other than that, the story itself is kinda cool and the actors is doing a really nice job IMHO.....allthough I'd love to see more of the Utopia-setting....and they could of done it a lot better in the caves with that Elves dude and the child....
anyways:
CRIXUS!!!!! :D

The story itself is engaging, if you enjoy fantasy as a genre.
