The Shield breaks the conventional formula of the cop genre. The series focuses on the tension between a group of corrupt but effective cops and a captain torn between bringing them down and advancing his own political ambitions.
I liked this series, but the demise of most of the main characters was hard to watch.

I think it was one of the first cop shows I watched where shi$t got real...was in my early teens.
Great introduction to "quality" television :)

Watched this show/series when it aired. It's one of my all time favorite shows!! Couldn't stop watching it & went through withdrawals having to wait for the next episode every week! The struggle was real before streaming!

'Bout time buddy!
And yea, one of the greates and most satisfying finales in a series ever.
Gotta rewatch that show one of these days.

I finally got around to it, because stuff, but what a series. What a finale. Wonderful show.

Awesome.

Heh, that character, like so many others on the show, will remain disturbing and fascinating for quite some time and in often unexpected ways.

I understand, but Utopia is simply something I don't enjoy. We all have a critical darling, that everyone else loves, but for you it's "bleh".
I watched half of the first series of Utopia and I felt as if I was watching a pretty painting dry. I did not care about anything that happens, at all. Everyone of those people could've been shot in the head and my best reaction would be 'meh'.
As for Shield, I'm finishing season 3.
Dutch killing that cat was really disturbing. I'm now scared that they are really foreshadowing Dutch's killing spree or something.

Try again. You wont be sorry.
It took me 3 attempts to get into The Wire , twice was wandering what the hype is about but finally third time got it.
There are shows you get exited about in a first minute of a pilot and those more then often disappoint on a way , Utopia takes very real global problem and shows a radical solution (I don't agree with) , cleverly written , excessively violent , one could say over the top in showing government/agency manipulation and surveillance but after Snowden not really. Makes you think in the end.
And where is Jessica Hyde is not an issue after all.
