5.3 with 320 votes is exact same as 9.9 with 320 votes.

What did you smoke?

Data interpretation capability. 320 votes is bullshit data pool. For example, book fans alone are more than 320. Or another example, this is EU orientated show, EU population 447 million, 320 of them are 0.0000715% - and they all also can vote 9.9. Not to mention that on the same IMDB are countless shows where friends and family have voted a couple hundred votes and show have high ratings which has nothing to do with the reality. Because data pool is bs.

5.3 with 320 votes is exact same as 9.9 with 320 votes. The real number can be anywhere between 3 and some 8. Plus 16% 1 star, so its either total crap or book fans raging.

You're right, it's just that not many 5.4/10 shows are great, and since I still have quite a few shows unwatched on my watchlist... :)

But please share your thoughts after watching, maybe I'll watch it some day.

Ouch...

I put the show on my list when I heard that a show will come out, but when I now read this (and the IMDb ratings), I think I'll pass. ;)

Yeh doesnt Sound so good, but supposedly it's well made but with some changes to the book, so Frank Schätzing who was involved in the beginning, might still be angry about it and had some disputes with the Show creators but was overruled and left the project. So my guess is that most negative imdb ratings might be from Fans of the book but who knows.

Lets see if the changes were necessary for a more fluent movie experience or changed too much and made it worse.
But i guess those who havent read the book dont even mind any changes aslong as its still good.

The Swarm, the big-budget series based on the Frank Schätzing best-seller, is an eight-part thriller series from Emmy Award winning showrunner Frank Doelger (Game of Thrones). The global environmental thriller is set in the present day, where anomalies and unnatural behavior in marine animals are causing upheaval all over the world. The Swarm follows a global group of scientists who come together to tackle one of the biggest challenges mankind has ever faced. They make the chilling discovery that deep at the bottom of the sea resides a collective intelligence which has suffered the ravages of civilization on its habitat - and decided to fight back.

I have read the book in 2007 while i should have rather prepared my master thesis for which i only had like 7 days left but couldnt stop reading even tho the book has over 1000 pages, it was that good, except maybe in the beginning where you get to know the characters.

For the TV adaptation of 8 episodes i dont have high hopes even tho with a budget of 40 million Euros its the most expensive german TV production so far, but the author Frank Schätzing said after watching it, it's poop, so i'm still gonna watch it, but with not high expectations.
