Wild Cards follows the unlikely duo of a gruff, sardonic cop and a spirited, clever con woman. Ellis, a demoted detective, has unfortunately spent the last year on the maritime unit, while Max has been living a transient life elaborately scamming everyone she meets. But when Max gets arrested and ends up helping Ellis solve a local crime, the two are offered the opportunity to redeem themselves, with Ellis going back to detective and Max staying out of jail. The catch? They have to work together, with each using their unique skills to solve crimes. For Ellis, that means hard-boiled shoe leather police work; for Max, it means accents, schemes and generally befriending everyone in sight, while driving Ellis absolutely nuts. Against the backdrop of beautiful Vancouver - with all its unique, charming, and even contradictory neighbourhoods and subcultures - the two will have to learn what it means to trust another person and maybe actually become partners.

Dang it. *Every* time I see the words "Wild Cards" I get excited thinking they finally made a show of George Martin's Wild Cards books.
Once again, denied.
Actually clicked this topic because I was hoping the same exact thing :D

a world upside down :D
This show had all the signs of a more or less mediocre, superficial, "glamour-style" series, especially with glamour eye-candy Vanessa Morgan in sexy colorful really expensive over-outfits. So - first impression: Trashy...
You guess right, i really don't like those kind of shows!
And?
No! Not trashy! Not superficial! Near to none glamour!
Don't get me wrong, this is not top-notch and not "quality" ... but! But a big BUT :)
Its "easy" but good, its "just" entertaining but has a nice enough quality to it...
the BUTs:
its real fun to watch, each ep has some kind of positive uplifting energy and plots are also ok-good enough to be entertaining
its really consistent! Always a minimum of a strong 3.5★, many scenes and some ep are even better!
not one scene is really bad, boring, trashy or something you need to skip, not superficial, no over-makeup, no real glamour
all scenes have the right length, not rushed - not to long
the biggest surprise, there is a consistent, mostly authentic character and story building from ep1 - both main character build up surprisingly deep and believable
So -for me- a BIG surprise:
I really enjoyed every ep, and even preferred this show to some others which i rate higher - but this one was every time: more attractive :o
