The new chapter of the groundbreaking HBO series Sex and the City, from executive producer Michael Patrick King, follows Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.
While Kim Cattrall's character of Samantha was written out of the revival a surprise cameo from hasn't been entirely ruled out with hints of the possibility appearing as early as episode two.
There has been a lot of opinions on the new series, some good and some not so good but I wanted to take a moment to speak to the negative comments I've most often seen and those seem to be around how the show is different from SatC and how there seem to be more diversity on the series... From my POV those seem to be the groans common to older folks watching series today despite both series & sensibilities having evolved.
So, to those negative voices I can't help but point out that this is not fact NOT SatC it is a different series, after all these characters have grown/evolved or are at least trying to. It's more GoldenGirls and the City than SEX and I find it sad that many old fans seem determined to live in the past instead of moving forward like the ladies... and FYI they live in Manhattan, it was always weird they didn't interact with more diverse folks before now (just sayin').
That being as it is, the only thing that seems a little iffy seems to be that Samantha would 'ghost' the ladies, even if she moved to London... I do hope Cattrall does return, even if we all have to wait for season two
Now for the thing that made me kind of annoyed about the first episode, having some emergency experience I was aghast as to the events in the last few minutes of the Ep where clearly there needed to be a call made to 911 which never happens. I looked into it and I was not the only one who has this issue, in fact Vulture investigated only to discover the following... According to Daniel Luger, a cardiologist at Chicago's Rush University Medical Center, "Carrie needed to do CPR. This is a PSA: If you see somebody lose consciousness, the first thing you do is feel for a pulse. If there's no pulse, you call EMS and start chest compressions without delay.Youcandefinitelysavepeople'slivesthatway. He didn't need to die. This is a goddamn travesty."
