This show takes place in the near future and focuses on the lives of eight astronauts from five different countries on a six-year mission through the solar system. The team is on a mysterious mission that is closely being followed by ground personnel.
Yes, now that you dragged this topic from the grave, I remember it. It was a great series. I hope you saw all 13 eps and not just the 10 which aired initially. After 10 eps you are left stranded but after 13 you get closure, kinda.
Yep, I've seen all 13. Still felt like an end of a season, not the series. :)

Damn, now I need to get my backup out of storage to check how many I have seen.

Finding (gold) old shows I've missed or wrongfully ignored at first try - episode 1258
Maaaan, this was so good... I haven't enjoyed a proper science-fiction show like this in a long time. The characters were great and they had awesome chemistry, all the CGI scenes were terrific (I can't believe it was aired by the same station that was haunting us with laughable "V" CGI) and the storyline was also interesting (nice to see they didn't share what 'beta' was right at the start). It's such a shame it ended or didn't even get an episode that would get you some closure and serve as a series finale. Anyone know if they ever explained what they wanted to do with the story (like the explanations we got after Awake got canned)?
PS. If you're looking for a good quality release I recommend Defying.Gravity.S01.Season.1.720p.HDTV.DD5.1.x264-TvT. The source is BBC HD and it doesn't have any station logos or any other watermarks... almost like a Bluray release. :)

now since there are so few sci-fi out there any suggestions for me?
ok i watched this show in one day.
i kinda liked it. and i think it should have deserved second season, because imo some things were not answered.
what were those alien objects? why did they "hurt" and made "people to hallucinate"?
those flashback kinda drove my nuts, but in general nice show.
what really bugged me was this. Astronauts program is extremely tough and it selects only the best of the best of the best out.
and ok those 8 people are there in Antares and everyone goes berserk as the leave earths orbit. what's up with that?
i don't mean the hallucinations. i mean they are unstable. in the flashback all they do is drink and have sex all the time.
i'm pretty sure astronauts have restrictions to that.
but all in all decent show.

I really object the GA thingy. Yes you have relationships in it - but what series doesn't?
You have a big ass space ship, a strange mission, supernatural powers, flashbacks from a Mars mission and a great mission control on earth. So how could this be compared to GA which is yet another relationship hospital series? :O

I remember it mostly as "Grey's Anatomy in space".
+1
Think of it less as Sci Fi and more of a relationship drama that just so happens to occur on a space mission, and its not particularly engaging relationship drama either, personally my recommendation is to skip it, it didn't have time to evolve into a show worth watching.
