Figures. It was just getting good. I wanna know what happened next.
eh!!!! how dare they!
Totally - as a Halo cosplayer this is sparked a MASSIVE amount of ... lets call it "emotionally invested" ... chat on the various 405th Infantry sites, pages, Discord. Lots of people saying "good riddance"... lots of people able to disconnect the show from the games that are sad to see this happening.
As I pointed out in those channels - I think we will see this across the board with all the Paramount IP properties now that Paramount has been sold to Skydance and Paramount+ as a streamer will probably be closed down by the end of 2025 after deals have been struck with other streamers to distribute all those shows.
I fully expect Halo to be resurrected with a new carrier/streamer/broadcaster/whatereverer... Season 2 was in my eyes a course-correction as far as they could stretch from season 1 while still maintaining some connection. Most s2 viewers seem to agree that it sets up season 3 to be the start of Halo CE with Chief by himself on the ring. That would make it pretty easy to continue their trajectory of course-correction from S2 to S3 and basically be almost in line with Canon. You can almost see s1 and s2 as prequel to CE, with some creative license taken for the change in media from interactive gaming to passive viewing.
At the same time if it is picked up by another company I hope they hear what even the fans of the show say about "more time in armor", dump Kwan Ha and that nonsense, if you're only going to have 8-10 eps a season you have to stick to an A/B story and not have story lines of C, D, E along with it: There's just not enough screen time for all that.
Never played the game. My PC was never up to par. And I watched the hardcore players bitch about his helmet off. Didn't care. It was still a good show. I wanted more. Hopefully this will get picked up by a smart carrier that knows what this show is worth.
Figures. It was just getting good. I wanna know what happened next.

Nah, that's definitely not something they made up themselves. The reason it may seem a bit jarring and out of place here is because the story kept dragging its feet getting there. Pretty much everything we've seen so far has been a bit of a prequel to the games it seems? Not sure, I barely know the general outline of the lore.
Anyway, seems we've reached the main event now. Let's see if they'll get to actually tell that story.
This season hat a lot of lows, but also a lot of moments I enjoyed. Quite watchable.

You have some totally valid points, Bananijoe - maybe I've enjoyed it more than you because I apply less rigorous standards to games being made into TV shows.

esp 8 should have ended with chief walking into the gate. All the chat with "Hal" "she is bad" "oh she says the same about you" silly. I don't get what the zombie virus is about seems anti-Halo. It was a good moment seeing fatso-boss getting her just dues

sadly S02 gets a massive fail grade. E08 makes it rather unwatchable in a retrospective summary...
All technicals are good - but story/plot is so unbelievable bad, i nearly dropped it :O
(Downrated the show here from a strong 4/5 to a 2/5)
S02 leaves no rememberable impression whatsoever!
When i ask myself:
"What happened in S02?" My brain tries to remember but gets: Who? What? Boom! WTF! *plop* ... End?
I saw meaningless action, meaningless chaos, no depth, a nearly "episodic" format - since episodes and plotlines just do not fit from episode to episode or even in the same episode - a big absurd chaos-mixer presents a "delicious" cocktail of vodka eggs nutella brick styropore slime lemon and a big portion of fireworks :D
You get really confusing and meaningless new characters with erratic changing behavior and suddenly everyone get the *dumb*-virus and now only prefers illogical stupid and/or corrupt and somewhat insane decisions. There is no sense of any continuity in the whole season!
Did they completely forget how to write? Did they have no clue what to write? Maybe being stoned got mandatory? I wonder if the Halo-Game-Universe is equally screwed up?!
I dont know what happened- but the results are abysmal in high-tech-quality, a very strange experience :D :D :D
If there will be a S03 -which got less probable- and this "anti-quality" persists, it will be a drop for me, if they recover and regain S01-quality, i may continue ... and hope... but wonder: WTF happened?!
hard spoiler, beware!
suddenly ...
there is the halo *plop* - wonder what could come next or do i?!
and a zombie outbreak ... REALLY?!?!?! WWWTTTTFFF!
Kai best/2ndbest Char is M.I.A/Dead? Halsey Zombie? Hyper-incompetent "Admiral" dead? New-Villain-Char now team? Everyone is dead -they need a new cast!
protocols and architecture of quarantine, isolation, bio hazard or safety and reporting, seems suddenly to be forgotten and unknown ... oops *plop* gone - drooling zombified colleagues jam corridors and rooms but everyone ignores them, having a nice chat with their friends - yeeeaaaahhh ... brain = *plop*
suddenly the overwhelming armada shrinks and is equal... oops *plop*
Universe *plop*! Story *plop*! But no real progression at all?
well and the last 5min? *no comment* eyes = *plop* ... brain = *plop*
Directors? Writers? Not convinced...
What happened?!
Writers= mostly the similar
Directors= nearly all different and e05-06 from Otto Bathurst were not really better than the rest...
S02
e01-02: Debs Paterson (Writers David Wiener, Ahmadu Garba, Kyle Killen, Steven Kane)
e03-04: Craig Zisk (Writers Marisha Muker, Tom Hemming, Kyle Killen, Steven Kane)
e05-06: Otto Bathurst (Writers Basil Lee Kreimendahl, Sarah McCarron, Kyle Killen, Steven Kane)
e07-08: Dennie Gordon (Writers Ahmadu Garba, Kyle Killen, Steven Kane)

2x8. Not a perfect, but a good season finale. But only if they renew the show, if not it would suck as a show finale. :D

well the only good thing about this series is the bad monsters. Their mouth apparatus is strange to say the least. Other wise it is just true video game smash, kill, smash

I didn't really like 2x5, but totally enjoyed watching 2x6!
The attack on the alien ship in the beginning felt like a video game and reminded me of what (little) I know of the Halo game. The fighting and the extreme-close-up shots pulled me right into the action.
