Karl Alberg is a detective that moves to a quiet coastal town to soothe a psyche that has been battered by big-city police work, but this gentle paradise has more than its share of secrets, and Karl will need to call upon all the skills that made him a world-class detective in solving the murders that, even in this seemingly idyllic setting, continue to wash up on his shore.
This is a good show, except for the producing and direction. It should be a cozy murder mystery story, but FOX insists on shoving edgy music riffs, and dark sets to try to create some kind of cop/action show. They failed. They should get someone from the BBC to produce. They know how to do it. I like the actors, the scenery and the plots are fine, maybe not everybody's taste, but it suits me.
I've been also watching it again ...gave season 2 a shot without having finished season 1 and it's gotten decent enough for something in-between :)

Forgot to remove it from Watchlist, decided to give it one last chance with EP04.
Those cuts, those horrible horrible cuts....goodbye show.

Episode 03 was not good at all.
It comes down to bad writing and awful directing. Editing is also garbage. Whoever cut EP03 has no idea what they are doing.
The best example for how bad this is, is probably after those two guys threatened Zoe and she called her brother. Then they make a hard cut to the police station and boom he dead.... it's hard to describe but when you watch this part you feel like you missed something.
Usually inbetween those two scenes is where you build up some kind of suspense but there is just nothing there.
In my opinion this show is better not watched.

Was really looking forward to this show. I like the concept of small town cop shows.
Unfortunately with two episodes watched, if I had to describe this show with one word, it would be "flat".
There is absolutely no suspense-building with the cases they are working on. You don't feel the impact of any of the revelations.
I get what they were trying to do with Karl Albergs character. But he just comes off as boring and set in his ways.
The other (regular) characters are just OK, no one really standing out.
And the humour, which is important for a show like this, is barely existing.
Cassandra is more interesting then Albert and she is a "librarian" ! - from the poster I thought she would help solve the crimes, consultant-style. So far she is just the girlfriend for Karl, really hope they are gonna do more with that character.
I don't know what they were trying to do with Edwina. At the beginning of Episode 01. She just starts working at the police station, they even mention she was part of a task force who took down a cartell....and then they do absolutely nothing with her character. In Episode 2 it even feels like she has always worked in this small town and nowhere else ever.
Apart from Cassandra and Phyllis I don't think any other character so far had really tried to be funny.
James Cromwell on the other hand played his character absolutely brilliant in Episode 01.
