A "Librarian" from the past, time traveled to the present and now finds himself stuck here. When he returns to his castle, which is now a museum, he inadvertently releases magic across the continent.
Season 2 was already in the works before Season 1 even aired. So they practically had to release it.
Guess though that will be the last we see of this show.
Always enjoyed this show. Will watch it just for the nostalgia of it.

Never really saw the connection to Indiana Jones. If I think about Indi and tv show adaptions only Relic Hunter ever comes to mind.
Hah, yeah, that one definitely. Looks like you are the first person to ever even mention it here in all the years this place has existed.
The first Librarian movie was made around the time they had just released the first Tomb Raider one, so that may have been a closer inspiration? Those games then were almost certainly inspired by IJ to some extent, which in turn was probably made to resemble the various jungle (and Egypt) adventure/mystery type movies from decades earlier, which then were stylistically based on written stories from the time Europe was all the way into colonization, and so on... ah well. That's probably far enough off topic.

The Librarian: Quest for the Spear (2004)
The Librarian: Return to King Solomon's Mines (2006)
The Librarian: The Curse of the Judas Chalice (2008)
So if anything, Warehouse 13 was the show who recycled the idea :)
But loved both shows almost the equally - Warehouse 13 a bit more since it was in the Eureka universe :)

This was somewhat disappointingly mediocre, but far from bad, especially for a show that was originally developed for The CW. They should have simply marketed it as a spinoff rather than a sequel.
Looks like they got another original cast member to show up in season 2 and the show as a whole moved back to TNT, so they might be headed in a good direction. We will see.

Decided to finish the season.
It did get a little better towards the end, enough so that I think with a little bit of reflection and listening to reviews and critics they could pull off a good season 2 - and I would give it a chance.
To my surprise however, Season 2 was already greenlit and, according to Instagram, has already finished fimling. So not sure how much incorporation there will be.
