Three young mermaids Lyla, Sirena, and Nixie are left out of the full moon celebrations to guard the Mako Island. But when they allow two human boys enter the island and one of the boys, Zac, ends up with a tail and powers, the pod has to leave. Girls are cast out as a punishment. To be let back in they have to travel to the mainland, get legs and make sure that Zac looses the gifts Moon Pool gave him.
