Foundation is the complex saga of humans scattered on planets throughout the galaxy, all living under the rule of the Galactic Empire. The protagonist is a psycho-historian who has an ability to read the future and foresees the empire's imminent collapse. He sets out to save the knowledge of mankind from being wiped out.

Btw, Dune 2 (loved it!) reminded me of Foundation at times.
Considering Foundation is one of the sources of inspiration for the original Dune series that's unsurprising!
Corusant from Star Wars was also based on Trantor.

I hate when they depart from the original literature.
Yes! it is a great show!
Better than the books?
No!

The un touchable monolith? Seriously we should accept an explainable vessel at a scientific outpost so far in the future they have faster than light ships?
Well, if it annoys you that much, minor partial spoiler on that thing:
In-universe, it's actually just a regular machine that, technically, anyone with the necessary resources can build. Basically none of the technology is actually new, but some of it has simply been illegal for such a long time that people wouldn't be too familiar with it. Using technology to do magic tricks is something they seem to do a lot on this show.

Cleons still steal the show though.
At this point in the show, a pure Cleon purging the galaxy would be preferable to any other storyline they come up with.

I dunno. I enjoyed season 2 a lot more and it was also a lot more coherent.
Cleons still steal the show though.

Touching on this, the show is definitely a science fantasy akin to for example Star Wars, not rooted in reality (such as Expanse) and that was already a case for the books. While it's true you have to take stuff on faith here, I feel like it's an unfair criticism here.
