TV Series Starring Doug McClure
Out of This World
This show revolved around a teenager, who was a little different from most: she was half-alien! She had the ability to stop time. Unfortunately, her father (the alien) was not around to guide her, though she could communicate with him.
Barbary Coast
Jeff Cable is a government agent working for the governor of California. A master of disguise, he easily goes undercover for his assignments. When he needs help he can count on casino owner, Cash Conover. Set in the 1870s, the show took place in the Barbary Coast area of San Francisco.
The Virginian
The Virginian was the very first 90 minute western on prime-time television, and is about a man, only known as "the Virginian" who served as foreman on the Shiloh Ranch (owned in sequence by Judge Garth, the Grainger brothers, and Col. MacKenzie) in 19th century Medicine Bow, Wyoming. James Drury starred as the title character with the likes of Doug McClure, Lee J. Cobb, John McIntire, and Clu Gulager co-starring.
It is in these settings that a variety of stories, much more based on character and relationships than the usual westerns, take place.
The Overland Trail
Overland Trail was a short lived television western about the adventures of an earthy stage coach line superintendent and his young partner as they strive to keep the stage routes open and safe. William Bendix played Frederick Thomas "Fred" Kelly, the superintendent of the fictitious Overland Stage Company. Doug McClure appeared as Frank "Flip" Flippen, Kelly's associate in the business.
