The drama series starring, executive produced and directed by Jason Bateman. Created by rising feature writer Bill Dubuque (The Judge), the show takes place in the dark and dangerous world of drug-money laundering. The series takes its name from the location where it is set, The Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri.

The show focuses on a geopolitical crisis and its effect on three disparate and desperate men: Walter Hollander, U.S. secretary of state, Alex Coppins, a lowly foreign service officer and Zeke Callahan, an ace Navy fighter pilot. These three compromised souls must pull through the chaos around them in order to save the planet from World War III.

Based on the thrill-ride film, this series is a supernatural crime saga centered around bank robber and his violent, unpredictable brother, who are wanted by the FBI and the Texas Rangers after a bank heist left several people dead. While on the run to Mexico, Seth and Richie encounter former minister Jacob Fuller (Patrick) and his family, whom they take hostage. Using the family RV to cross the border, chaos ensues when the group detours to a strip club that is populated by vampires. They are forced to fight until dawn in order to get out alive. The series deepens the tone of the film, adds new characters and backstories and expands the Mesoamerican mythology behind the creatures inside the club.
